Wow-wy!

He has been hailed as one of the most lyrically masterful white rappers the world has seen since "the real" Eminem made his debut back in 2010 (not the gangster, 50 Cent inspired one) and New Hampshire, US underground rap sensation, Eyenine continues to defy fans' and critics' expectations time and time again with every new record. Released on the 4th of May to critical acclaim, his latest album, "A Reason For Departure" is a collaborative project with New Hampshire electronic rock outfit, The Lonely Ghosts. It's a 12 track album that will take you to the highs that resulted when Jay-Z teamed up with Linkin Park, and them smack you upside your head repeatedly with insightful, intelligent lyrics, mind-boggling metaphors and deeply invigorating beats till all you can say is more.

Somebody call the Doctor (Dre)

If the title of the song doesn't boggle your mind and leave it a little if not very unsettled and desperately needing to satisfy the curiousity is arouses, the masterfully written lyrics, rhymes and expertly orchestrated flows probably will. Eyenine made his debut as one of the top underground rap artists in Dover, New Hampshire, USA and has held that title since 2010 when he released "Insomia Sessions". He immediately caught the eye of RZA of the Wu Tang Clan and has been supported by Wu Tang Management ever since. His sound can only be described as a blend of the performance style of the real Eminem we all remember from the Slim Shady LP and the lyrics of the Wu Tang Clan. To cut a long story short, he's what it would sound like if the Wu Tang Clan had a white member.

Slow, sensual and it will make you feel like you've just entered your local red light district's classiest joint on a really quiet night, the lights are really low and you've laid eyes on your forbidden fruit - you know, the apple of your eye that you know you can never take home to mama. The one that's so bad, she makes you feel good. The one you can always count on to make your troubles go away and last but not least, the one you'll remember at the end of the night and store in your phonebook as "Cheeks".

The holy grail of pop

This record wants nothing more than to make you feel good - that's it. It's bright, colourful, meaningful, memorable and infectious enough to make you do the "Carlton Banks" dance. It's one of those records with the uncanny ability to make you happy and have you whistling down the highstreet with a spring in your step and a smile on your face even on a monday morning.

It won't try to sell you Reeboks or tell you the world is coming to an end so you can join its creator's new religion. It won't sell you sex and then take your girl friend and cum in your ears. It won't tell you it's the shit and you are just shit. It's not pompous, rude and it won't tell you how much it made last year. This is one of those rare records out today that will reassure you that there is still hope for pop music and that there are still artists out there who believe there is no compromise for artistic integrity. Sitting in position number 4 of Wisconsin, US band, The Last Bees' debut album, here is a song that will sprinkle your day with love and make you feel alive again. And no, you probably won't hear it on your favorite radio station - it's too good.

A dream come true

An exciting, dreamy 4 track masterpiece for when you want nothing more than to turn the lights down low and just be. Easy on the ears, with insightful lyrics that'll stimulate your mind, themes that'll make you ponder and instrumental performances more sedative than horse tranquilizers. This album will take you to a tranquil place with the first track, "White Slide", and then whisk you away to a mysterious place with the second, "5 Is The Number". "Grano", the third track will then catapult you to a magical world far, far away where there's a party being thrown in your honor, and then "White Slide Live" will bring you back to your happy place on earth feeling more energized and refreshed than you've ever been your entire life. You'll have no choice but to hit the repeat button after all that.

The last track on Trevor Ohlsen's latest album, "Trevor Ohlsen", this slow, exquisitely written and performed song brings the 16 track masterpiece to a gentle climax. Minimal and quiet all the way through, it's a deeply moving record that is guaranteed to bring you to tears or at least close, in pensive moments when you are reminiscing about old love or missing someone who is far away. It's about two lovers parting ways hoping to reunite again.

Soft, sweet and melts away like cotton candy.

Come back to center

The first track on Miami, US independent reggae star, Honorebel's classic album, "Honor Roll".  Released at a time when the then fast-rising reggae sensation was just making a name for himself and was already thought to have peaked musically, it led the way for an illustrious music career bigger and more exciting than what anyone was expecting. It's one of those records you throw on when you need to restore some order. It has a very homely, family-friendly vibe that creates an air of comradery.

Easy does it

New York based UK folk singer songwriter, Robert Leslie is one of those deceptively low-key artists that will take your breath away in a heartbeat with nothing but a guitar or a ukulele. He has a way with words even Shakespeare couldn't contest. His new album, "Masks & Mirrors" was released back in July 2018 and many are still digesting the first track, this track - it's that good. "Fools Gold" is one of those songs with a meaning, a purpose and a message you may or may never fully grasp, much like the subject matter of the song. But one thing is guaranteed, and it's that approximately 3 minutes after you hit the play button you'll feel a massive volcano of love and all sorts of four letter words erupting inside you that will all fail to accurately define just how refreshed and liberated you feel, followed by a sigh of relief more enjoyable than an after sex cigarette.

By the time you are done trying to wrap you head around the pristine, mind-boggling clarity of the track and failing to understand how it could have possibly come about, you'll find that the sweet, graceful and nothing short of heavenly melodies have taken you to a place much happier than your happy place, and you are happier than you've ever been your entire life. This is one of those records that will set the bar for good music so high nothing and no one would be able to please you aurally for a very long time, so think twice before hitting that play button.

So Beatlesque

Sweeter than nectar

Six organic, feel good tracks that'll give meaning to your music listening sessions once again breath new life into your music collections, set your heart on fire and then lasso the moon for you. Exquisitely written and performed from start to finish, this album will teach you everything you thought you knew about good music and then hit your newly found sweet spots repeatedly till you're screaming out your safe word you never knew you had frantically in ecstasy. It's lively and blissfully exciting with sweet riffs and soft, soothing bass lines, heartwarming vocal performances that'll get your heart racing, and lyrics you'd want nothing more than to sing along to. The album comes at a time when fans were starting to wonder what happened to the Milwaukee, US indie rock sensation, Ian And The Dream after peaking at an all time high and receiving widespread recognition beyond what any other independent Wisconsin band has ever achieved, and then suddenly vanishing. Well this is what happened, they morphed into something even more spectacular, The Last Bees and this, their self-titled debut album has got pop and rock music critics and fans raving like lunatics and has been spreading like wild fire across the US since its release on the 12th of April.

Even the City of Angels has its downsides

No, this isn't one of those songs you play when you've had too much fun and been up to no good so bad you know you couldn't have done it all of your own accord. It's not the song you play when you've had too much to drink and you're not sorry. Nor is it the song you play when you've been caught cheating again and you know you'll do it again because there are so many beautiful fish in the sea and the sun is always shinning just right. It's a sad song about moments when times are hard and everyone just seems to suck in so many ways - yes, it can happen in Los Angeles too.

"The La-La Song"
Adult Contemporary

If heaven sounded so good ...

Christina Custode sang her way into the hearts of unsuspecting New Yorkers only a few years back with the release of "The Mistletoe Song" before quickly returning to completely blow all their socks way out of visible range a few months later with the release of her debut album, "I". The album set the tone for what has become an illustrious independent music career that has taken the independent New York star around the US several times to perform at some of the country's popular live music venues, concert halls and music festivals. Christina has also received 5 Grammy nominations. "I" was a classic album that is still receiving high praises up till today, over 7 years after its release. Featured on the album, "The La La Song" was just one of several songs that brought a breath of fresh air and so much joy to many discerning music fans who had been advocating and are advocating more so today than ever before that music is becoming less and less "musical". It stayed clear of everything the mainstream had to offer while delivering some of the best of the best adult contemporary fans had heard in a long time, and it was recognized as an exceptional performance in both mainstream and independent circles as was the whole album. It is a song that, much like the title suggests will leave you singing la la la-la la la-la-la-la-la and whistling down the high street without a care in the world. With just a piano and some minimal backing instrumentation, this song will brighten up any day no matter the weather - it doesn't matter whether your bills have suddenly catapulted to an all time high or you're out of muscle relaxers and are quickly loosing your buzz. This is one of those songs that will instantaneously inject you with happiness, put a big smile on your face and caress you gently.

"Ghosts"
Folk

Sweeter than candy.

It will take you back to the days of The Beatles and then whisk you away to heaven for tea with Lennon and Harrison - sadly you'll get kicked out for idolising them.

Don't bother listening to this song if you've got or are prone to cavities, you'll be in for a painfully satisfying rush like you get every time your sweet tooth gets the best of you and you reach for your secret stash once again. To cut a long story short, listening to this song is like pulling teeth - you don't want to do it (because it makes the real world seem so dull afterwards), yet once you've done it you're so happy you are not even sorry you appreciate everything a little less than you did prior. If you're having a bad day and you need a quick pick-me-up this is not the song for you. This bad boy will take you so far away from your troubles you'll feel unsafe to go back. This is one of those records you'll probably want to reserve for very special occasions like your birthday, or Jesus' birthday. It's hard to say that about any song on the market today including old school records but that is the simple truth. Washington, US quartet, Wylder is about to release their second full length album and this is the first taste of it. If you've spent any time at all listening to popular music this decade you'll need to clean out your ears and forget about the best records you heard. Now hold on to the moment when the Q-tip hits your sweet spot and your toes are all curled up and then hit the play button just this one time, just to hear what you are in for before tucking it carefully away in your music collection for a really special occasion that is coming your way, fingers crossed.

Disclaimer: Q-tips are dangerous when used improperly, no matter how good they make you feel.

Spectacular

Trevor Ohlsen's latest single, "Lazy Days" was released on the 3rd of May to critical acclaim in Michigan, USA where he's from and beyond, and it is already being predicted to be one of the top independent summer hits of 2019. It's got such an uplifting and liberal feel it'll make you want to fly away. The record is evidence of Trevor's exponential growth as an artist over the past year, and it is safe to say he has peaked at an all time high once again both lyrically and stylistically. It's a bigger, crispier sound production-wise, and performance-wise, it is much more laid-back and effortless.

Featuring 6 of their very best records to date, their debut album, "Dichotomy" has been hailed for its originality and the band is quickly making a name for themselves as a force to reckon with on US's cut-throat emerging rock music scene. The album is packed with powerful guitar riffs, painfully satisfying percussive instrumentation, and intense performances that will leave you feeling so energized and alive you'll want nothing more than to scream out at the top of your lungs and smash something (in a good way).
