Exquisite songwriting, masterful performance

Michigan, USA's pop music landscape hasn't been the same since independent artist, Trevor Ohlsen came into the picture with his signature guitar style and rocked the hell out of it. With meaningful themes and lyrics, carefully written to perfection, and sweet, exciting melodies you could almost literally sail away to a far away land on, he has done well to give a good name to pop at a time when it is very much needed and also revive the interest of discerning fans of the genre not just in his hometown but across the US as well. "Alarms" is featured on his latest album, "Trevor Ohlsen" which was released back in January. Much like the whole album, it will put you in a canoe in still clear waters on a bright, sunny spring afternoon and then have you slowly drift away in the gentle breeze. It's lush and heartwarming, sweet and paints a picture of love so pure, so tender, so innoncent and unspoiled, and so special R Kelly would love nothing more than to pee on it.

Slowly builds from very minimal and quiet, and then quickly blossoms into something big that will blow you away.

Quiet, blissful, exciting
Sitting in position number 5 of Michigan, US singer songwriter, Trevor Ohlsen's massive 16 track self-titled album, "Trevor Ohlsen" which was released earlier this year, "Own Love" is one of those infectious records that instantly hits your sweetest spot, puts a big smile on your face and has you humming along with it the minute it comes on - and then sticks in your head for so long you'll never have a dull day again. Production-wise it has a very warm and inviting ambiance. The overall record evokes very bright and summery emotions owing especially to Trevor's way with words, particularly those pertaining to love and other matters of the heart. It's perfect whether you are reminiscing about old love or enjoying new love. It features very minimal instrumentation - Trevor's signature guitar played to perfection, and a very simple bass line.

A pop album that won't make you cringe

Good, clean, fun - amazing!

You'll never say bad things about pop again

16 blissful tracks that redefine the very essence of pop in 2019

Fans, both old and young have all had their reservations about pop music at some point or the other right from the genre's early days, but even more so over the past few years which have seen the genre pervaded with hip hop antics that have considerably reduced its potential for mass appeal, which is what the genre is generally all about. Sure, we are all tired of the same old lyrics and remakes of the same old songs, and even copies but this album makes no attempt whatsoever to take things back to how it was in the old days, rather, it defines its own path and careers down it like a runaway train with breaks that mysteriously work in just the right places. To cut a long story short, it's not an album that aims to correct everything that's going wrong with pop today, stand out, be different or prove a point. It's not an album that aims to do things to your ears that have never been done before. No, it won't tell you it's the best you ever had or ever will have. And last but not least, it won't tell you how much money it's got in the bank and why you're a looser if you don't wear Versace everywhere you go, have 365 tattoos on your forehead alone, keep a pistol tucked in your socks or smoke weed everyday. This is a good album that is just that - and that's what makes it so spectacular. No gimmicks, no emulation or duplication of what has been, no pompous or over-showy sounds and nothing that will make you have to lower the volume so your neighbours don't start questioning your integrity or overall demeanour. It's good, clean and exciting all the way through - one of those albums you'll listen to over and over again without knowing, and never get tired of it.

It's quite rare to come across an album this big, a pop album for that matter in 2019, and that makes it even more spectacular. Its size doesn't in any way water down the quality of the record in any way. It's deeply refreshing and satisfying all the way through. Every other song takes your breath away quicker than the last one brought a new breath of fresh air. It's masterfully written and performed from start to finish with Trevor's signature guitar techniques shinning through all the way.

The self-titled album features the critically acclaimed 2018 singles, "The Airport", "All Over Again" and "Michigan" which all paved the way nicely for the Michigan, US fast-rising pop music sensation's first full length album since he made his debut back in 2014 and with the response it has received so far it is setting the tone for an even more promising career that was previously predicted.

Gentle, warm, inviting.

Pleasing to the ear in every respect.

Simple is always good, this is excellent.

Ahead of the release of his upcoming self-titled album on January 7, 2019, we are revisiting Michigan, US independent pop sensation, Trevor Ohlsen's August, 2018 release, "All Over Again", which is still getting a lot of attention from local and national radio and press months on.

Amongst many high praises, the track has been hailed for it simplicity. Trevor paints a vivid picture of teenage love with words ever so carefully crafted backed by instrumentation that takes the listener away to a happy place where time stops and only love matters. Step aside Justin Timberlake, there's a sex machine in town and he's not wearing Calvin Kleins.

Much like his last single, "Slip n' Slide" released just under a month ago, Michigan, US's rising indie pop star, Trevor Ohlsen's new single is another great song that will breathe new life into your baby-making playlists and music collections. Again, like its predecessor it's a little different from what some of his earlier fans are used to, with a very mainstream pop approach, but with a pensive repertoire like his songs like this really work well to switch things up a little bit.

"Calvin Klein" is slow/mid-tempo, exciting and will get you on your feet. It has been described as Bruno Mars meets Justin Timberlake, meets Pharrell with a little hint of Michael Jackson so of course there's a mild twist of disco in there, complete with juicy, electronic-sounding hooks and a bassline that'll make you feel like a wild, sexy beast about to sweat someone's perm out really slowly - that feeling you get when you listen to a slow Barry White love song after dark while spending time with someone special.

It's good for your skin.

Following in the footsteps of his previous 2018 single, "Michigan", Trevor Ohlsen's latest single is another one for the books. It's a pop record with a slightly different style from what the Michigan, US independent artist's fans are used to but nevertheless it's a great track. It's one of those records that will have your skin glowing the morning after you first hear it, after having slept really well just knowing that there are artists out there who know how to make a good song but are still willing to try something different every now and again to keep things fresh - without trying too hard.
