The Bishop Boys
Really cool song about the simple things we all miss
If great bands and musical acts like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, Jimi Hendrix, The O'Jays, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley and Nina Simone were still around they would have probably written a song like this. It’s a shame we don’t have many more meaningful and true-to-(ordinary)-life pandemic inspired records on the Billboard charts and other mainstream music charts, with the current state of the world and all that has happened even over the past year alone – and no, a song about how Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Justin Beiber or The Weeknd miss going to the Versace, Rolex or Ferrari store and buying everything in there just for fun without having to wear their Gucci mask and Michael Jackson gloves won’t suffice (I mean, when was the last time you went into a Ferrari store? Two thousand and never right? Who needs a Ferrari nowadays anyway, when everyone's an Uber driver now; or a Rolex when there is a digital clock attached to virtually any and every indoor or outdoor surface or screen, not to talk of any and every device in your pocket or on your person at any given time even you if you leave home in nothing but a mankini).
Inspired by the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020, Austin Di Pietro and Andrew Adoranti’s new single “Dark Days” is for anyone who has been affected by the lockdowns and pandemic of 2020/21 in any way – that’s literally every single one of us right? If you have ever had to put on a mask to go outside and not because you were about to do something dodgy or collect some money some had owed you for way too long, this one’s for you. If you’ve had to resort to (Snoop) doggie style and can't think of any other reasonable alternative for the foreseeable future (it’s much safer right? in case she/he coughs or sneezes… or pukes, or gags? Who knows what you filthy boys and girls are into these days (hopefully not kissing), this one’s for you. If you’ve been drinking everyday or more often than not, or ever found yourself knocking on your neighbor's door late at night because you've run out of jazz cabbage, just so you can feel a little bit as good as you did only a year ago, this one’s for you. If it's been over a year since you had Chinese food, got a massage (the good type - wink, wink), had your nails done, or got your nether regions violated by a sinister human epilator who you are pretty sure is going for the most pain, in the name of beauty, this is for you and your big bush too.
Add this to your pensive music playlists and share it with all your friends who are obviously going through something (we all are) but are not sure how to say it, or if they should.
