The art of storytelling in all its glory

You'll wish you'd never heard this - it's so good it hurts

During these stressful and disturbing times, filled with uncertainty, despair, fear and unrest in larger amounts with every passing day as Covid-19 takes more lives and shakes the very foundations of modern society and even humanity as we know it, only real music will suffice. Luckily you are in just the right place to get exactly that, right here, right now. “Morning Come” was featured on New York based Londoner, Robert Leslie’s critically acclaimed album, “Shard Of The Mosaic”. The album was one of his first official releases, and it was an album that re-introduced the world to a sound and style that has become rarer than a hand shake in society today. Pensive, soft and easy on the ears, and heavy on the soul, it is one of those records you hear and instantaneously come back down to earth from where ever you were or have been mentally or emotionally. One of those songs that immediately gains and holds your full attention without trying at all. It tells a story, it paints a vivid picture in your mind and it makes you feel like a kid again somehow.

Easy does it

New York based UK folk singer songwriter, Robert Leslie is one of those deceptively low-key artists that will take your breath away in a heartbeat with nothing but a guitar or a ukulele. He has a way with words even Shakespeare couldn't contest. His new album, "Masks & Mirrors" was released back in July 2018 and many are still digesting the first track, this track - it's that good. "Fools Gold" is one of those songs with a meaning, a purpose and a message you may or may never fully grasp, much like the subject matter of the song. But one thing is guaranteed, and it's that approximately 3 minutes after you hit the play button you'll feel a massive volcano of love and all sorts of four letter words erupting inside you that will all fail to accurately define just how refreshed and liberated you feel, followed by a sigh of relief more enjoyable than an after sex cigarette.

Carry a tissue

New York based UK folk artist, Robert Leslie released his highly anticipated and now critically acclaimed album, "Masks & Mirrors" late last year, and it was everything anyone who knows anything about good music wanted and then some. Minimal, organic, fresh and pure, it was everything the music industry has been missing for a very long time and then a humongous load more. "If Jesus made an album, this is what it would sound like" - those were the words of the very astounded reviewer who reviewed Robert's first album, "So Long" a while back. "Sunny Kindsa Lies" was considered to pack twice the punch of that album, and his latest album followed suit nicely. If you intend to listen to this album casually like any other album you would listen to when you need a little distraction or something to play in the background - don't. This is not one of those albums for casual everyday listening - it's a very important album for those crucial moments when the world is really getting you down and you need an antidote really quickly. These 9 meticulously written and performed musical masterpieces will bring on the water works quicker than Bambi but crying is therapeutic so don't fight it, just let go and let whatever will be be. When you are done listening to this, you'll be full of life and content with everything as it is, good or bad and the only words to describe your mood will be - everything is exactly as it should be (or something along those lines).

Hakuna Matata!

Have a wonderful day.

Painfully satisfying.

Mind-boggling good!

Sneeks up on your sweet spot and then hits it really hard.

An eargasm you'll never forget.

Robert Leslie is known for his mellow and minimal yet excruciatingly refreshing and satisfying songs. His music is comforting, soothing and very relaxing, often with troubled and pensive themes. He tells stories and paints the most vivid pictures with nothing but his guitar and his ever so calming voice. Robert has a way with words and a soft spoken tone that will bring your troubles ever so close and them send them so far away you'll never let them back in - you'll have the choice. If you are a discerning music fan that likes intelligently written and performed songs then you'll be spoilled for choice with this mind-boggling 10 track album that has been a long time in the making. "Masks & Mirrors" was released on the 31st of July and is available to stream and download on Spotify, iTunes and top digital music distributors.

"So Long"
Folk

Whose nail is that in my coffin?

After two years since his last full album, New York folk singer songwriter, Robert Leslie's Summer 2018 album, "Masks and Mirrors" was released for pre-order on iTunes and pre-save on Spotify today the 28th of July, 2018. Its official release date is the 31st of July.

While we unwrap and digest what is expected to be a monumental release that will be cherished more than Kim Kardashian's fake butt cheeks (when she's gone), we thought we'd review one of his most highly revered records to date, "So Long".

Now this record is very dark, sad and deeply emotional. It's about saying goodbye and never looking back. It's about trying your best and never being adequate, about lost love, and hard feelings. It will bring the hardest, most macho man or woman to tears. It's about hard times, it's about struggle, it's more about downs than ups, it's as close to depressing as any record in history has ever gotten. It reeks of despair but lacks enough drive for any real desperation, and worst of all, it will make you crave more - so hopefully the fact that it is so loved is not a reflection of the mental state of the world today but simply an appreciation of life as it is and good music as we know it.
