If really fiery, hungry hip hop is heavy on your mind and like many hip hop fans you are desperately in need of something that packs a punch strong enough to put more Oomph! in your speakers than N.W.A, then look no further. Released on the 1st of January, no underground hip hop release has come even remotely close to matching the energy contained within this 8 track album which features back to back hits by the hottest emerging rapper in the Southern region of the United States, Drevo Coolidge including the critically acclaimed singles, "Premeditated" and "Convictions". The mixtape still has many lost for words and probably will for a very long time. Masterfully orchestrated from start to finish

Seriously satisfying all the way through 

If your favorite rapper is Drake or anyone who makes full songs about badonkadonks very regularly, you'll need a band-aid and some new socks after digesting this powerful and utterly invigorating album. To cut a long story short - it will blow your socks off and knock you out cold.

Staying well clear of the pop antiques and mass appeal tactics that are rampant in a lot of today's hip hop, Six9's new album is everything the pioneers of hip hop envisioned and continue to envision, and then some. This isn't one of those albums you throw on when the lights are low and you're hanging with the old lady, unless of course your old lady is an original gangster, (or a really hefty, hardcore dyke - no offense meant, the heart wants what the heart wants - no one's judging you here), it's one of those you crank up to the max when it's go time. It's raw, hardcore, motivational, inspirational and highly energising. It's one of those records that'll keep you up all night hoping Spotify will recommend more of, but sadly you won't find anything like it. With 12 tracks packed with everything hip hop has been missing for decades lyrically, stylistically and sonically, it will blow you away and have you on your knees begging for more. But don't take anyone's word for it, skip over to "Child's Play", track 10 to get a raw taste of what you are in for before settling down to listen to the full mixtape. Dope rhymes, original lyrics, themes with substance, that deeply satisfying bass that is missing in a lot of the hip hop vocals on hip hop records today - reminiscent of artists like the Notorious B.I.G, that forceful delivery that'll get your blood pumping, that deeply satisfying rush that comes with the truth and nothing but the truth, and ultimately, that liberating feel you get when you're sure you've discovered the best of the best - that's what you get. It's one of those mixtapes that's so good you'll hesitate to share it with just anybody.

A truly exceptional mixtape.

This mixtape is so refreshing we had to bring it back one more time, and we'll probably do it again in the near future.

Mainstream hip hop makes it so difficult to enjoy rap music sometimes, with all the infusions, crossovers, gimmicks and publicity stunts for mass appeal. When an artist like Yung Rackz drops a new song, album or mixtape there is no doubt what to expect - authentic, original hip hop sounds and lyrics that'll take you away.

If you are not yet familiar with North Carolina's underground rap sensation, Rackz then you better get familiar. This mixtape is packed with 18 solid tracks and every single one of them will remind you why you started listening to hip hop and still continue to do so even as the genre struggles with what can only be described as an identity crisis.

Here's yet another treat for hip hop fans.

Though the potential outcome is often uncertain and never guaranteed, especially with the vast amount of songs, albums and mixtapes the music industry is churning out nowadays, music discovery still has its rewards, and this is just one of those unexpected but very much appreciated finds that make it all worth while.

At least 3 years in the making, "Return of the Gods" is one of Atlanta, US underground rap star, DedFre$h's most highly anticipated records to date - so of course it got the attention it deserved when it was released back in March, and it's still gaining a lot of traction and being hailed not just for being a truly authentic hip hop record that aims to set not follow trends but also for DedFre$h's fearlessness in exploring the depths of and pushing the boundaries of the genre instrumentally and stylistically. You'll hear sounds you never thought you'll ever hear in hip hop and sounds you've probably only fantasized about while listening to your favorite rappers.

Lyrically, it also excels as DedFre$h tells his story and paints compelling pictures with words like only he knows how.
