“Plankin” is a New York underground hip hop classic that was way ahead of its time and will never get old. It’s a meme-themed record that ushered in the era of memes at the time when planking, one of the earliest and most exciting memes to date according to memeheads everywhere, was revealing a crazy side of humanity the world had never seen before. The craze quickly spread thanks to the Internet, and so did the record. It got so bad at one point that if you ever rushed out of your house early in the morning and found the work buddy who you had carpooled with for several years without any problem lying face-down on the hood of your car and had to drive to work with him on the hood, you got off easy. The song was featured on the popular US talent show, “American Idol” and it set the tone for the promising hip hop career Giftgable is enjoying today.

Mean business

When you listen to this song for the first time you’ll have the same look on your face as a baby taking it's first ever poop. You won't know what the hell is going on, if it's even possible, whether it should be happening or if you should be worried. But you'll feel so amazing and you'll never want it to stop. This is one of those hard-hitting hip hop records you have to cover your kids' ears to listen to. Carefully crafted, with a blissfully boxy, cardboard drum sound and an ominous feel that’ll make you feel like someone’s about to end up on the news (someone that's really bad obviously), it’s a speaker shaker with a mean vibe more unsettling than the last rolling paper.

New York hip hop at its best.

With the plethora of crossovers and infusions pervading the once pure genre's main stage, real hip hop is hard to come by nowadays, so if like many die hard hip hop heads you've been itching for something seriously good to bury your ears in, you're in for a treat.

Giftgable is one of those rappers that'll always remind you he's got fire in his belly. His sound is furiously satisfying and his records are unashamedly honest. "Apes**t", the new single was released on the 24th of August and is poised to cause a lot of pandemonium on New York's underground hip hop scene.

That fire in your belly - this is what is really sounds like.

We've been here so many times. Great beat, amazing production, big budget, massive sound, but mainstream rappers today somehow just have a way of sucking the life out of a track and making songs so boring sometimes. A Boogie wit the Hoodie's track, "Say A" was cool, received widespread praise and came with a really fun music video as well, too bad it was flawed with all the same old overused lyrics and sleepy/tired/lazy/weak vocal delivery and antics we are all sick to the stomach of.

Luckily we found this remake of the track by Brooklyn, New York underground hip hop star, GiftGable that made the track's multi-thousand dollar budget all worth it, for underground hip hop fans at least.

There's no fancy sing-rapping or rap-singing here, it's not sweet or sexy, the vocal delivery is a lot more hungry and forceful with a lot more bass (many of these new rappers need more bass in their voices), and it's more ruthless and fierce than pompous or arrogant. This is Brooklyn hip hop, raw, uncut, real and exactly as it should be. Enjoy!
