You're in trouble
Following just over a week after the first single and only single from the album, “Faith”, sent shockwaves through both mainstream and underground hip hop communities far and wide, “DREVO Upload” did things no other hip hop album has done to listeners and critics for a very long time – it left them speechless, deep in thought, deeply motivated and weak at the knees, all at the same time. With only 5 tracks, it is a very compact album that packs a massive punch and it has the potential to put even the most discerning hip hop music connoisseur on their back. So before you go hitting the play button willy-nilly, think about this first – do you have a Great enough album to chase this with once you are done? If the answer is no then you are better off leaving this baby alone until your favorite rapper stops bragging about eating ass and comes out with something substantial, or it will, much like the first single “Faith”, have you feeling like there’s something missing in your life once it’s over. Of course you could always stick it on repeat and play it everyday until the resurrection of Tupac and Biggie, or until the day today’s grossly wealthy rappers get out their old bus passes and ride the bus one more time to restore the hunger and passion they once had. But of course that will never happen – you’ll never see Jay-Z riding on the bus in his pink suit and Versace hairstyle, and even if Tupac and Biggie came back they’d probably be forced to wear pink suits too to compete with the likes of Jay and Rick Ross the boss; and really short flowery shorts like Gucci Mane - that would really mess with their heads and they’d never be the same. So let’s face it, this album is trouble – but good trouble, if that makes sense.
