Wow!
Spectacular
Pretty sure I peed a little bit
Everyone knows it's hard to please a weed smoker - at least not without a bag of weed, not to talk of one who never comes down from a high. So if world renowned, multi-platinum selling California rap star, Snoop Dogg's endorsement of independent Los Angeles R&B artist, Crystal Starr's latest album wasn't enough, well then here it is so you can listen for yourself and be the judge. Originally released back in 2017 with very limited distribution, this critically acclaimed 12 track masterpiece was re-released in the UK and then the rest of Europe shortly after back in the summer and it continues to receive rave reviews and leave DJs spoiled for choice. If you are one of those picky music lovers who likes their sounds a certain way or who likes only specific types of grooves, or will only listen to artists with a certain demeanor, this album will send all that out of the window the minute you hit the play button. It's not one of those eager to please albums that will bombard you with everything it thinks you've never heard before in one song and leave you sweaty eared with a pair of mildly disgruntled ear drums after the first track alone. It is one of those albums that gently invites you in, gets you comfortable and then serenades you. It's elegant, it's retro chic, it's colorful and it will take you to a special place where nothing else in the world matters but the music coming out of your speakers. Featuring a handful of her past independent hit singles, "Bang Bang" , "Barracuda" and "Payback", the album also includes a host of sensational new tracks like "Heart Attack" which was released a few months back, as well as the critically acclaimed title single, "#SHE". Are there any highlights? Well yes and no. For there to be highlights there would need to be highs and lows, or mids at least, but this album starts on a high and ends on a high - just like Snoop Dogg. Maybe that's why he loved it so much he felt the need to do a video about it on Instagram (check out the video below). But enough talk, all this talk about Snoop Dogg is giving me the munchies. Just hit the play button already. And oh, put on your dancing shoes - no socks please.
