"Smoke"
Reggae
God put this here for you, and me
Australian reggae band, Echo Drama, one of the biggest bands of its kind in a long time, with a whopping 9 members just released a brand new album that has Melbourne's reggae fans on their knees. It's received so much praise left, right and center we thought we'd hold back on listening to it and take a quick look at some of their earlier works so that we are adequately prepared for what has been described as a monumental moment in reggae music. To give you an idea of how satisfying this band is to listen to, just imagine each of its nine members is Bob Marley playing 8 different instruments while singing at the same time - to cut a long story short - they'll take you higher than Fela Kuti, liberate your mind completely, make you see God, and then bring you back and tuck you in for a good night's rest, which you'll need for your brain to recover from all the organic sonic goodness.
"Smoke" is the first track on their "Bury The Weapons" EP, a five track album that earned them a spot right at the top of Australia's reggae music scene as one of the top new bands to watch. It was a record that not only defined their sound in its purest form, but also introduced fans to a cutting edge reggae sound that would never be replicated by any other band.
