Mal V Moo
"Heaven"
R&B
A classic re-born
With deep roots in gospel and christian music, R&B is a genre that has evolved rapidly over the past couple of decades and continues to evolve today, but somehow it still manages to retain those subtle yet unmistakable elements from its origin that make it so special. Sadly those elements are vanishing quicker and quicker, and fans and critics, and even music industry insiders are advocating that before long those soulful rhythms and deeply passionate vocal and instrumental performances that once made it unique would have been completely replaced by something entirely new. Sure, everything must change eventually but no one wants to see/hear their favorite music genre completely transformed into something unrecognisable no matter how fresh the new form it takes on is. Luckily, there are artists and bands our there, mainly outside of the mainstream that strive to keep R&B alive in its purest form while still setting trends and blazing trails in directions not too far off from where the genre's core values were born and still lie. Mal V Moo is one of such artists, and over the years she has brought much joy and re-assurance to fans with her exquisitely written and performed songs centered around love, relationships and delicate matters of the heart. Honing her craft for several years behind the scenes in her local church choir where she performed every Sunday, Mal went on to become one of the hottest newcomers on Ohio, USA's R&B music scene back in 2013 when she released her debut single. Although her sound and style were hailed as top-notch right from the start, she continued to grow progressively, and her sound has become much bigger and better over the years. Today, not only is she one of her home region's top contenders, she's also being predicted to be one of the next big international R&B acts out of the region, thanks to singles like "I'm Good" and "All Things New", which were released earlier this year. Her latest single, "Heaven" was released just over 12 days ago. The track is gentle and easy on the ears with a soothing groove that'll put your suede shoes on and take you to the moon. It's a remake of the popular song, "Heaven" by BeBe and CeCe Winans but she did well to do the song justice while also making it her own and sprinkling it with a little bit of magic. If you are already familiar with the song then you'll probably just be excited to hear a fresh new take of it. If you've never heard it before you'll pat yourself on the back for discovering it and then play it over and over again until your mp3 or Spotify player goes bonkers and starts to skip like the old Compact Discs did back in the day when the record was first released.
