Kiye
"Pieces"
Hip Hop
Sadness, there's no remedy
Carry a tissue
Her way with words is reminiscent of artists like Tracy Chapman and she's known for her dark, somber and melancholic songs about life, heartaches, personal struggles and relationships. Kiye is one of those artists who is pulled closer and closer to the hearts of her fans with every new release. Her songs are always relatable whether she's telling a story from her own perspective or a general perspective. "Pieces", her latest single is probably her darkest, dullest and yet most enjoyable to date. It features a dark, gloomy piano melody, a large cloud of bass, a lot of distortion and noise, deeply moving guitar riffs that sweeten the pain, and somber vocals that will take you to your quiet place. Production-wise, it is one of those records that will take you back to the '90s when pops, clicks, glitches and tape noises couldn't get in the way of fans enjoying their favorite records 'cause they were so good. It has a very deceptively low key vibe all the way through. One of those tracks you could listen to all day over and over and still never get tired of it.
Explicit.
