On election day, November 6, Durt Boi made his final move in a what could have only been described as a hostile takeover of the South. The US ex-army service man has been on a war path to eliminate any competition standing in the way of the (his) hip hop crown since the beginning of the year and the results have left many a mind boggled. After years of artistic development, Durt Boi's sound has gone from exceptional to just plain out-of-this-world.
"Trippin", while probably not his last in his series of back-to-back hits this year, certainly feels like the climax of an era and the beginning of a whole new phase in the independent Tennessee rap star's illustrious career.
Production-wise the track is lush and crisp with a virtuosic beat that will keep your head ringing. The overall track has a deeply infectious vibe that makes is a top contender for the clubs. It's effortlessly masterful, lyrically sound, not overly pompous as is the case with many rap songs nowadays, authentic, and most of all, you won't feel dirty afterwards like you would after listening to a nice Drake or Kanye West record.
The song has already turned a lot of ears in the industry, critics are going nuts, DJs are super excited and fans are raving, to say the least.
